Lenzie Gin wins double at Scottish Gin Awards 2019

Lenzie Gin Scoops TWO Big Awards
Our very own Lenzie Gin has won TWO awards at the 3rd Annual Scottish Gin Awards! Lenzie Gin won:

• Gin of the Year
• Best London Dry Gin of the Year

We fought off 44 other strong contenders to win London Dry Gin of the Year, and were selected by the judges choice for Gin of The Year. We are still gobsmacked! 😀

The national awards programme which celebrates excellence in Scottish gin revealed the results on Thursday evening following a rigorous judging process involving 30 leading experts from across the UK, the assessment of 104 written entries and the blind tasting of 173 gins, all distilled in Scotland.

Mark commented, “Sue and I were both delighted at winning such a fiercely thought category as Best London Dry, then to go on to win judges choice was such a humble moment, we would like to thank Lewis and all the team at Billington’s in Lenzie for making our dream come true.”

Did you know…

The idea for Lenzie Gin was born from the shop’s gin club and their love of gin and the complexity of botanicals. Determined to develop a gin that would represent the local area, investigations were initiated to source and research local botanics.

After exploring the area and with guidance from ‘The Friends of Lenzie Moss’, it was discovered that cranberry and bilberry both grow locally on the popular nature reserve in Lenzie. Development began and the first bottle was produced in June 2018. 🙂
